Purpose
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose Purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

2021 Candle Burning
The Candle Burning Program is offered by our Capital District UMW as a channel of Mission Giving. Persons may donate funds in honor of as well as in memory of loved ones. Each year at our annual meeting, a candle is burned for the number of hours funded through this channel of giving, the cost was $20.23 per minute for 2021 and Capital District raised $389.27. The burning of our Mission Candle symbolizes gifts to mission given on behalf of persons we love. In honor and memory of their lives, we burn our Mission Candle.
