Q2 2026
From the Vice President · Q2 2026
Sisters, as we step into Q2, I want to invite us to take the national conference theme personally: Dream it. Believe it. Do it. These are not just inspiring words — they are a call to action for each of us and every unit in our district.
“We can be unstoppable if we step out in faith and accomplish things we never imagined. God calls us to be brave.”
Dream It
Think for a minute of the dreams of the Bible — those that Jacob had, or the dreams about the coming of Jesus. One thing they all had in common was they were bigger than the person they were delivered to, and it took an act of stepping out in faith on that dream. We need to dream big this year about connecting with more women in a meaningful way.
Pray about God sending you the name of a woman who would benefit from this sisterhood. God will answer that prayer. Meet her where she is — call her, catch her after a church service, let her know God put her name on your heart. Listen carefully to her reply. Tell her your story about how UWF has helped you. Ask if you can take her to the next meeting, and follow up with a call. Don’t limit what God can do through us. We can be unstoppable if we step out in faith.
Believe It
Believing something is different than knowing something. I believe airplanes can fly — but I believe in them enough to get on one and use it to get to my destination. Do you believe in UWF enough to explain it to another person so they can see how fired up you are about being a part of this sisterhood? Believe it enough to explain how our communities need women like us — women who serve, love, and stand for justice for all.
I have heard comments that UWF are those who cook for us, or clean up the kitchen, or serve at funerals. How and when has the church been following your leadership of reaching out to the community? Is your pastor excited to see how fired up you all are? When is the last time you talked to your pastor about how UWF can help support the mission of the church in 2026?
In order to believe, you have to take time to reflect on what you actually believe — individually and as a group. We often do not set aside time in our planning for spiritual growth or spiritual care for our souls. When is the last time your unit had a meeting, retreat, or gathering that really reflected on the condition and care of your souls and their relationship to God and others?
Remember: every time you respond to that small nudge of faith in your heart, we open ourselves to the possibility of new friendships, a supportive community, and a justice-seeking sisterhood. Every action — no matter how small — has the potential to inspire, encourage, and make a lasting difference in someone’s life.
Do It
The final step is “Do it.” This begins by communicating to others who we are. Make your voices and presence heard and seen in your community. Show your commitment to inclusiveness, activism, and impact. We grow spiritually and in our love for each other, unified by a heart for purpose.
When I am asked why I remain involved, my answer is simple: UWF allows me to be in the company of loving, caring women and to develop friendships. It gives me a place to serve and act on matters that mean most to me. As we take action, let’s start by inviting others and letting them know they are welcome just as they are. They do not have to be Methodist or join the church first. They do not have to be interested in every activity or read a certain number of books this year. What matters is they are welcomed and feel included and valued.
We cannot solve all the world’s problems. We cannot totally wipe out injustice. What we are called to do is follow Jesus’ commandment to love our neighbor and to love God fully. We need to pray and believe God has greater things in store for us this year. With God’s help we can be unstoppable.
Remind your unit what our mission statement is. Read it at the beginning of each meeting: We seek to connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, influencing and impacting local and global communities.
Here is a simple, practical guide for this quarter:
Pray for guidance — ask God to bring you a name
Reach out and meet her where she is3
Share your story of how UWF has shaped your life
Invite her to the next meeting and follow up with a call
Make her feel welcomed — no requirements, just love
Don’t forget to feed the soul — yours and hers
Pray about it individually, then as a group. Have faith that God will deliver what He promises if we only Do It. In summary, my goal was to remind you that you are a powerful, fearless force driven by God’s love and united in sisterhood. We can do the impossible by God’s grace.
Anchor yourselves in these scriptures as you pray and plan this quarter:
James 1:4
Jeremiah 33:3
1 John 5:14–15
Luke 1:37
John 14:12

Our Work is Never Done: A Reflection on Legacy and Light
By Marilyn Cannon, North District President
When my grandchildren were pre-school age, I had an experience with two of them that has stayed with me. I was washing dishes at my daughter’s house when my 4-year-old granddaughter came running into the kitchen clapping her hands and singing, “I can’t wait to die to see Jesus.”
I panicked first and thought, “how am I going to respond to this!” Before my next breath, her 6-year-old brother responded, “Alyssa, you don’t have to die to see Jesus. He's in your heart.”
I was relieved and joyful to hear his response. These children are my legacy. We might think no one notices our work, but we are making an impression and the younger ones are learning from our efforts to serve Him.
Our Purpose in 2026 Being an active member of United Women in Faith is a large part of my purpose, and I hope it is a part of yours, too. We have an opportunity to connect with something greater. When we meet and exchange ideas, it is the beginning of serving others and the organization.
Join Us for Training & Leadership Development On the last Saturday in January, there will be leaders to help direct you in your purpose. I guarantee meeting with your sisters in Christ will recharge your 2026 battery and you will feel at peace.
